王大同，贵州安龙县人，1937年2月8日生，1957年毕业于四川美术学院，留校任教，曾任油画教研室主任，参与油画专业创建，培养众多出色人物。执于艺术实验，力图不断超越，作品多次参加国内外大展，获全国美展二等奖，国际荣誉金奖及其他奖项多次，作品多次赴欧美各国展出，获高度评价，有大量作品为海内外美术馆及藏家收藏，曾在美国纽约《中国当代油画展》上创中国在海外展出作品售价记录，在日本东京，其作品亦曾高价出售，被评论家誉为“绘画艺术大师”，代表作被载入《中国新文化大系》、《中国美术五十年》、《当代中国油画》等典册，国家出版《王大同油画选》（1984年），现为中国美术家协会和中国油画学会会员，四川美术学院教授、享受国务院特殊津贴专家、硕士研究生和跨世纪接班人导师、重庆市老科技工作者协会常务理事、四川美术学院老教授协会会长。

Wang Datong was born in Anlong County,Guizhou Province on February 8th 1937.He graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1957 and taught in the college since then. He used to be the director of the canvas staff room and participate in founding the canvas department. In his teaching career,he has trained lots of excellent artists.
He endeavors to the art experiments and innovations. He participated in many exhibitions home and abroad and obtained honors such as the second-class award in the National Fine Art Exhibition, the International Honorable Gold Award and so on.
His paintings,which are exhibited and highly appraised in Europe and the USA for times, recorded the highest price of chinses paintings in the Modern Chinese Canvas Exhibition in New York,and his works were also was sold at a price in Tokyo.
He is honored the title of "Master of Painting Art".His opuses are collected into the books as Wang Datong Canvas Collection(1984).
He is a member of China Fine Artist Association and China Canvas Academy,a professor of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute,an expert honored with special allowance from central government,a tutor for postgraduates and centurial successors,an administrative director of the Aged Experts Association in Chongqing,and a chairman of the Aged Professor Association of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

我大体是个写实主义者，但也不完全照抄现实。要遇着能引起兴趣的因素才想作画。希望每一副画都比前一副画好，总想充实一些有趣的新元素，削弃一些无趣的旧元素，朝着我的梦想彼岸踽踽前行，来实现对于自己的超越。长期以来旦旦而作，久而不怠。虽然自感成效不显，而回头一顾还是留下时间的印痕。这可能就叫艺术的足迹，其实是人生命的足迹。

Generally speaking,I`m a realist ,but not exactly, I would not draw unless something interests me . I hope to make progress every time when I draw,and I also want to add some interesting elements to my paintings . Along the way to realize my dream, I always abandon some boring antiquated elements to surpass myself. I am not tired of drawing though I draw often. Although I have not achieved too much, time has left its impression upon my painting. Maybe that will be called footmark of art,but in fact,that`s footmark of life.
